OHIP+ UPDATE APRIL 2019
Significant changes to OHIP+ as of April 1st, 2019- Important information for patients and families:
As of April 1st, 2019, the Government of Ontario has changed OHIP+ by focusing benefits on those without private plans. Anyone 24 years and under who has OHIP coverage and is not covered by a private plan is covered by OHIP +. You do not have to enroll or register to access OHIP+ coverage. OHIP+ coverage will stop on your 25th birthday or if you become covered by a private plan, but you may qualify for other financial help with prescription drug costs.
So…
If you do not have a private plan, your child will remain automatically enrolled in OHIP+
If you have a private plan your child is no longer eligible for OHIP+ and will access prescribed medicines through your private plan.
